Thanks P...

My point is...when most fans are so far from the pitch that they can't see the ball...or recognize our own players...
It isn't a good football stadium...
Why go to the stadium and have to watch the big screens to see what's happening...better off doing it st home...

If only we'd had smart enterprising owners in the late sixties and seventies...just like Man U...Arsenal...wed have a proper stadium and be a regular top 4 club...Years...Brown...Amateurs...compared to Man U Arsenal...even Spurs...

Tex has got a lot of stick for this post and yet not once has he said the photo is an accurate representation of what the finished refurb will look like - he just asks a simple question.

The simple answer is No Texas, No it bloody isn't a football stadium

I read somewhere that West Ham have recently paid 45 million pounds to Balfour Beatty with regard to the conversion of the OS.

Isn't that wrong ? I thought it was just 15 million we had to pay ?

Re: Is this Really a Football Stadium...???
True, it's up to us fans mainly what the atmosphere will be like. Potentially we could have nearly 20.000 more fans in the OS than now at the Boleyn.

The roof is supposed to be the bees' knees and will kepp all the noise in, so even if there are gaps between upper and lower tier, the noise will still be there and if the Olympics are anything to go by we should have a great atmosphere there, even if we only get half the noise from the Olympics.

The way and shape it is it of course is not a proper football stadium, I suppose we can all agree on that. So it'll never be ideal or perfect. But it can be a good stadium for us nonetheless.

Re: Is this Really a Football Stadium...???
I just think that the club really needs an injection of new life and energy as we've been stale for years, really... This move can bring that... And it should almost certainly do, to start with at least...

We had a brief exciting period in 05/06 with Pardew - when we should've won the FA Cup - and the late-90s and early-00s (pre-relegation in '03!) saw some really exciting football under Saggy Chops but we still didn't do quite as well as we should've had - that team and period should've really seen us win at least one domestic cup as well, but we shot ourselves in the foot a couple of times as well...

Apart from these periods, we've mainly been uninspired and, at times, downright depressing in the past 25 years...

I think that this move can reinvigorate us though as a club...

Re: Is this Really a Football Stadium...???
probably not a fair comparison ; the back row at Wembley is miles higher, an extra 30K seats there

Re: Is this Really a Football Stadium...???
Norf,
Please read what I wrote. Is not the distance from the back row at Wembley from behind the goal to the centre spot similar to that of the OS?.

THE DRUIDS expect a cheap and shabby job with screening-off the upper-tier seats...

After all, that's what you get for £150m-£200m job with the best in the business working on it...
